Directed by Jessica Harmon, ‘Girl in the Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez’ is a thriller drama movie on Lifetime. Based on true incidents, it follows Abby, a young 14-year-old girl who gets kidnapped on her way back home from school in North Conway, New Hampshire. She is held captive in a sound-proof container by Nathaniel Kibby, who then subjects her to psychological, emotional, and sexual abuse daily. As Abby fights to survive her captor’s torture and hopes that authorities find and rescue her, her mother, Zenya, begins a desperate search for her....

Swiss director Tim Fehlbaum is noted for crafting breathtaking post-apocalyptic visuals, and the slow-burning atmospheric sci-fi epic ‘The Colony’ (original title: ‘Tides’) does not fail to impress. The dystopian movie unveils a vision of a desolate Earth. When Earth can not foster life following a series of disasters, the elites set sail for the distant planet Kepler 209. However, they must now make the return journey to Earth, which holds the secret to humanity’s survival....

‘1883‘ has a habit of forcing its characters to face dangerous situations that lead to profound realizations about life and morality. Another such situation unfolds in the first season’s penultimate episode as Colton faces a moral dilemma. In the episode, the caravan is forced to face off against a group of Native Americans. The ensuing battle leads to a confrontation between Colton and Alina. Colton is forced to kill Alina, and some viewers might be baffled by the young cowboy’s decision....

From having non-existent roles in the movies dominated by white actors to becoming an essential part of Hollywood, African-American representation has come a long way. And all of the credit goes to the black filmmakers, who pushed the boundaries placed on them and broke the walls created to stop them. They shattered stereotyping of black people in movies as well as they did with the box-office. 2019 has been a wonderful year in that regard, with some truly great work finding its way to the big screen....

After the success of teen thrillers like ‘Elite‘ and ‘Baby,’ even Spanish producers are now keeping up with the trend and creating some surprisingly good teen dramas. ‘Control Z’ is another appreciable addition to the genre. While the thrilling cybernetic mysteries in its overarching plot win you over, its raw portrayal of high school dynamics and teenage emotions make it even more entertaining....
